Runway to Realway: Fruits!

Everyone's gone bananas! Quite literally in Prada's case as they presented shirts and skirts emblazoned with the fruit for their Spring/Summer '11 collection, along with its favourite tasters, monkeys. And they weren't the only ones offering a visual treat; many of the pieces in Stella McCartney's S/S show featured a smattering of grapefruits, lemons, and grapes, plus Suno created a very wearable fruit print midi skirt in their S/S collection. And it would appear that it is a trend that is not about to die down anytime soon as Anna Sui has just presented an autumnal twist on assortment of berries and citrus fruits in her Resort 2012 collection.

The High Street has, of course, interpreted this trend in a very wearable way. Zara have created a very Stella-esque citrus-print blouse, while River Island have squashed two trends into one by creating a very chic stripe-and-fruit top, as well as a fruity romper.

Former X Factor contestant Rebecca Ferguson, who is currently starring in the Walkers crisps ads, was recently spotted rocking a very 60s look in this Zara floral tulip shape dress. She accessorised with a black quilted chain-strap bag and black patent t-bar heels. 


I love her bouffant hair with this look, although I think a coloured pump may have worked better with the colours of the dress.

Katie Price in Zara

   

British reality star and model Katie Price, aka Jordan, is currently on the search for a new model who will 'break the mould', for her new reality shoe - 'Discovered by Katie Price'- which will air on Living this autumn.

She was pictured arriving for auditions in London yesterday wearing a white Zara fit-and-flare dress, which she teamed with metallic strappy heels a silver jewel choker, and, of course, massive shades. 

This is a great, classy look for Katie and I would say it's the best she's ever looked. Let's hope she continues in this direction!

Teen sensation Miley Cyrus was spotted at the airport recently. What instantly stands out is her Zara bright red cropped jacket. 

This ringmaster style jacket is gorgeous! I like how Miley has kept the rest of her outfit simple to give the jacket the attention it deserves but I think it would look just as great teamed with an aztec or floral print summer dress to channel a 'Global Traveller' vibe.


Harry Potter actress Bonnie Wright has also been spotted in this jacket. She choose a similar approach to Miley in that she kept the rest of her outfit simple, except for her Miu Miu tote which added another pop of colour.

Pippa Middleton's Zara obsession

Pippa Middleton is having a bit of a Zara obsession at the moment! Just the other day she was spotted (excuse the pun!) in this polka-dot two-part dress. The jersey top and polka dot skirt are broken up by a wide silver waistband. 

Zara is a great fit for Pippa as they create fashion-forward yet classy pieces. However, it would be great to see Pippa in more British designers as she has become an overnight worldwide style icon, so has a great platform to showcase emerging designers.

Taylor Swift in Zara

 
Taylor Swift was recently spotted in a Zara ensemble while on tour.


She paired her pleated skirt with a striped breton top. She added nude sandals and a tan satchel to keep the focus on her bright skirt.

Pippa Middleton in Zara

 


Pippa Middleton was photographed looking remarkably fresh-faced the morning after the Royal Wedding while leaving the Goring Hotel in central London, en route to the family home in Berkshire. 


After her triumphant Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress the day before, Pippa chose to champion the high street wearing a royal blue Zara double-breasted blazer with gold brass buttons. She added it to an all-white outfit, which included Tory Burch pumps. 


Of course, Pippa's blazer sold out almost immediately but you can still get hold of a very similar style in green or red here. 


It will be interesting to see whether Kate and Pippa stick with their high st roots now that they're part of 'The Firm'.

Olivia Palermo in Mango, Topshop & Zara

 

Olivia Palermo is a huge fan of the high street. It is therefore no coincidence that she is often voted the 'best dressed' in polls!


A recent stroll through New York's Upper East Side was no exception as she wore her favourite Topshop Unique skirt, with a sage Mango shirt. 


This is such an unexpected combo but it works so well together; it is definitely a style I will be trying on the not-so-windy days! 


Olivia also wore this skirt when she attended the Matthew Williamson F/W '11 presentation during London Fashion week in February. On this occasion she teamed it with a Matthew Williamson chunky knit and brown Zara lace-up booties.

Frankie Sandford in Zara

 
Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays was recently spotted on a night out wearing this fab Zara red dress. I love the epaulettes on the shoulders which set it apart from any other LRD (Little Red Dress)!


I also love the way Frankie has styled her outfit with her black suede Carvela ankle boots. The only change I would have made is changing the black belt to a narrow leopard print style.

Lorraine's High Street Fashion Awards

The winner's of ITV's Lorraine's annual High Street Fashion Awards were announced today. Winners were decided by a public vote, and a panel of experts, made up of Lorraine herself, Jo Elvin, Editor-in-Chief of Glamour magazine, singer Sophie Ellis Bextor, and Lorraine's resident style guru Mark Heyes.

And the winners are...

Primark won best affordable fashion.


New Look won best shoes.


Topshop won best trendsetter.


French Connection won best premium brand.


ASOS won best online retailer.


Debenhams won best department store.

Rachel Stevens also attended the recent British Heart Foundation's Tunnel of Love charity event, as well as Mollie King from the Saturdays. The new mum looked beautiful wearing an open back red shift dress from Zara. 


She added embellished open-toe nude booties and an oversized beige Mulberry Tillie clutch to her look. 


I love this whole outfit! Rachel always looks very classy and chic and this outfit is no exception. She always seems to be working that high/low mix of teaming high street clothes with designer accessories. I don't blame her as there are so many pieces on the high street that deserve a red-carpet outing!
