Hailee Steinfeld loves Aldo pumps!

Actress Hailee Steinfeld, who was nominated for 'Best Supporting Actress' at this years Oscars for her role in 'True Grit', made huge waves on the party circuit for her fashion choices. She was immaculately turned out for every red-carpet event she attended, whether in Prada for the SAG awards, or Marchesa at the Academy Awards. 

One recurring theme in many of her looks are these Aldo 'Hoxworth' black patent mary-jane almond-toe pumps. Hailee wore them on at least four occassions, including with her Marc Jacobs polka-dot scallop-skirt dress (above, centre). They are a relatively safe choice and go with every outfit, but Hailee is very experimental in the clothes she wears, so a safe pump is probably the best option for her. Also, not forgetting that she is only 14 (!) so her stylist probably just wanted to stick with what was most comfortable for her to wear for hours on end!

Hailee has also been spotted in a pair of red suede Aldo pumps, which she wore with an Alberta Ferretti dress and H&M red rosette clutch to another event. I thought it was very sweet that after the (very-long) Oscars ceremony, she changed into battered red Converse trainers for the Vanity Fair Oscars party, which she wore with her princess-like Marchesa dress. 

 

Hailee has caught the attention of many in the fashion world and has just been named as the new face of Miu Miu! Why were these opportunities not around when we were 14...

Frankie Sandford in H&M

Frankie Sandford, from British girl group The Saturdays, recently appeared on a music programme with her bandmates wearing this H&M flared leopard print top. She paired her top with black jeggings and enormous wooden heel leather platforms.

Olivia Palermo in H&M and Miss KG by Kurt Geiger

 

Olivia Palermo is no stranger to the High Street. She proved this once again when she attended the recent Ferrari store opening on Park Avenue in New York wearing these H&M studded hotpants and Miss KG by Jurt Geiger 'Bond' platform heels.


The heels are beautiful! They have a gem-encrusted platform which photographs really well. Olivia added a loose white blouse and her Mulberry 'Neely' bag in blush pink.

Who wore it better? Jessica Lowndes or Julianne Hough

                          

 

Hollywood starlets Julianne Hough and Jessica Lowndes have both been spotted wearing this H&M tan leather mini dress. The 90210 star wore hers to a Hollywood event, while 'Dancing with the Stars' dancer and future 'Rock of Ages' actress Julianne wore hers out to dinner.


Both chose to keep accessories to a minimum, with Jessica just adding strappy metallic heels, and black clutch and a single gold bangle. Julianne added nude peep-toes, a gold watch and her beau Ryan Seacrest. 


Although they styled it similarly, I prefer this look dress on Jessica as I think the darker hair and shoes work better with the dress. Julianne looks a little washed-out in my opinion.

Runway to Realway: Marc Jacobs vs. H&M

 

The 70s has been a HUGE trend inspiration this season. From high-waisted flares to billowing-sleeved blouses, every corner of the decade has been covered by the runway and the high street.


Marc Jacobs was at the fore-front of this revival. His Spring/Summer '11 show featured models with super-perms and corsages in their hair, strutting down the runway in printed sundresses. Many high street retailers have picked up on this and recreated similar styles. 


H&M have done a particularly good job with this halterneck chiffon dress in salmon. Just like at Marc Jacobs, the neckline is intertwined with a lighter coloured material. Unlike the designer version, H&M's version is not midi-length but sits just above the knee. 


Style it like the runway by adding a corsage on the waistband, adding platform sandals, heavy eye make-up and a stack of gold bangles on each wrist to complete the 'Studio 54' Disco-Diva look!

Michelle Obama in H&M

 





FLOTUS (First Lady Of The United States) Michelle Obama, made an appearance on The Today Show with Matt Lauer recently. 


She chose to wear a £24.99 H&M navy polka-dot dress, which was sightly modified. 3/4 length sleeves were added to Michelle's dress to cover her impressive arms and the coral ribbon belt was swapped for a wide leather version in the same shade. She added neon-yellow kitten heels to tap into the colour-pop trend. 


During the interview, she spoke about her status as a worldwide fashion icon, saying: 


"I take it as a compliment but it's not something I focus on". 


I love it when Mrs O uses her considerable sartorial power to showcase the best in high street fashion.

Who wore it better? Kim Kardashian or Natalie Portman

Everybody scrambled to get hold of the Lanvin for H&M collection when it went on sale in November. Celebrities weren't immune either, including Kim Kardashian and Natalie Portman who both snapped up this one shoulder ruffle detail dress. 

Although it's not particularly clear from the lighting in the photographs, both are wearing the eggplant colour. This dress also came in bubblegum pink. 

Both ladies styled it in a similar fashion with black pumps and minimal jewellery. However, Natalie opted for a rouge lip and a loose chignon while Kim went for a smoky eyes/nude lip combo and hair down and wavy. 

I prefer this dress on Kim as I think the colour suits her more than it does Natalie and I prefer how the waistband sits on Kim.

On a side note, I can't wait to see who's the next to collaborate with H&M! I would love to see Marchesa!

Demi Moore in H&M

Demi Moore recently attended an A&E networks event in LA. 

She wore red satin peg leg trousers from H&M's Seaside Collection, which she teamed with a white tank top by Kimberly Ovitz and an Elise Overland long black jacket. She completed her look with Tabitha Simmons black satin 'Dulcina' heels. 

I think she did the trousers justice by keeping the rest of her look so simple although the outfit is not quite jelling for me as a whole. It feels quite messy although it may just be a bad photo!

Colour Pop is a huge trend this season and adding one piece into your look at a time is a great way to buy into the trend without going overboard.
